The Labyrinth Builders were commissioned to design and build this labyrinth within a mature garden area. This required significant changes being made to a much-loved space. Our background in garden design and construction enabled us to achieve this without detriment to the existing garden. The labyrinth is set in a quiet secluded space linked by stone steps to the main area with its popular central water feature.
The labyrinth is set in a quiet secluded space linked by stone steps to the main area with its popular central water feature and provides a resource for patients, staff and volunteers as well as the wider community.
The labyrinth design by Jeff Saward is derived from the archetypal seven circuit classical labyrinth and utilises bespoke natural sandstone and blue-grey limestone setts to form the pattern. The smooth surface makes the labyrinth accessible to wheelchair users and less able walkers.
This installation at St. Michael's Hospice, North Hampshire was made possible by a direct grant from the Department of Health.
